Before I was a mother, I never understood what Mother’s Day was all about. I always thought it was another commercial holiday on a Sunday in May that we send a card to our moms and say thank you for everything you do for us.
It wasn’t until I became a mother, that I fully understood the meaning of Mother’s Day. Of course the outlook on Mother’s Day changes when you become a mom, everything changes when you become a Mom. It is a day to take the time and reflect on how lucky I was to have a healthy, happy little boy and of course a day to be treated for all the sacrifices that a mother makes.

To me personally becoming a Mother is one of the greatest gifts anyone could have. It’s the feeling of dedication, selflessness, and maternal love for our child. It’s being the best person you can be for your child and going to extraordinary lengths to protect them.
What is Mother’s Day?
Dictonary.com defines Mother’s Day as:
Mother's Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May.
Sacrifices of A Mother
Appearance
This may sound a little vain, but most women finding the change of their bodies during and after pregnancy uncomfortable. The dreaded weight gain, the pressures to lose the baby weight, the change in clothing, and the stretch marks. Also, the fact that once you have a baby, not having the time to get ready as you did once before, the “Mom Bun” is a real thing!

Time
As a mother we have little to no time to ourselves. It’s learning how to do things quickly (eat, prepare meals, get ready for the day, etc.) It’s also learning how to develop patient, tolerance, and manage a little more stress.
Sleep
Whether getting up in the middle of the night for late night feedings or being rocked back to sleep as babies. Getting up in the middle of the night due to teething pain or taking care of a child at 2:00am. Mom’s never get that “time off” even in the middle of the night. Your child can always go to sleep, knowing you are there whenever they need you.
Keeps going, even on difficult days
Let’s be honest, everyone knows that a house with a child is a house with germs. Even on those days that you are not feeling 100 percent, you are putting your child’s needs ahead of yours. You don’t get a day off from Motherhood.
Putting the kids first
As a mother your consistently make your kids the #1 priority. This isn’t to say that as a mother you don’t have friends or social obligations. But taking care of your kids you put all that aside and make them the #1 priority.
Mother’s do all these and many more on a daily basis. The reward for all these sacrifices: YOUR CHILD'S LOVE, and that’s the only thing that matters.

To me, the day that I became a Mother, my world changed. The love and joy that a child can bring to this world is indescribable, until you experience it yourself.
So on this Mother’s Day I hope that you find nothing but, relaxation, peace, and lots and lots of love. And, take some time for you and reflect on all the great things you have in life.
Today I leave you with this quote,
"When you look into your mother's eyes, you know that is the purest love you can find on this earth."
- Mitch Albom
